My approach to Family Portraiture concentrates on cultivating an enviornment to nourish family relationships. 20 minutes after he sat down with his father for his turn… completely unprompted… he turned to his Dad and said “I really liked all those things you said to me over there Dad.” Then he smiled at him and skipped on his merry way. I love when the experience becomes just as precious as the final portrait. Ice Cream is a great incentive to smile, but even better is expressing geniune joy through moments of love.
The Larsen family embraced this environment and went all in with both feet. I cried when they cried, I laughed when they laughed. It was a wonderful afternoon with an amazing family. Here are a few of my personal favorites from their fall portrait collection.
