Long Beach Island (at the Jersey Shore) in the summer, has the most unpredictable weather. It makes for planning beach sessions….well…interesting. I tell most clients that I can’t really cancel or postpone their sessions unless it’s actually raining at the time of their session or there is an obvious monsoon or hurricane and we know for sure that there will not be a one hour break. Because chances are, waaaay more often than not, that the report says, 50% or 30% or 80% chance of rain, and lo and behold, at sunset – the clouds part and it clears up. Almost every time.
However….when clients like Sarah and Isaac, who were traveling from central Pennsylvania for the engagement session, are scheduled, it’s hard for me to say, yes, please drive all the way here and let’s take a chance.
Luckily, I didn’t have to. Sarah is a photographer, and a dear friend. So she knows exactly how this works, what we need and how long we need it for. She and her fiance Isaac are also super fun and really could have cared less if it rained or not. Probably because they had planned on getting wet anyway, (see the bottom of this post). So even though on the drive over, it was raining, and even though we had picked a beach with a pier in case of downpour, at 6 pm, (ok maybe 6:05 pm) the rain stopped and the clouds parted and out came the beautiful sunset light we had hoped for.
I cannot wait for your wedding (as a GUEST) Sarah & Isaac! And I am thrilled that you choose me to capture your engagement portraits. It is a huge honor and it was such a pleasure to photograph you two!
Here are a few of my personal favorites!
XOXO,
Angie
