Home Depot in the pouring rain

Yes we were at Home Depot in the pouring rain.

 

Because why not?

We were the only people in the store. Until over an hour later, we were finally checking out and noticed a man buying nails. Yes, nails at 9 pm on a Wednesday night.

We didn’t need to go to Home Depot that night – or even in the rain, the pouring rain, but we went anyway. Stopping at Applebees first because the kids had won a free sundae for excellent reading throughout the school year. But it was a random Wednesday and we had some projects in mind and that today seemed as good a day as any. That’s what umbrellas are for and what childhood memories are made of. “That day we went to Home Depot in the pouring rain – to buy stone – in the garden center – outside – at 9 pm at night.” That will be the story they tell one day. Of how they were jumping in puddles in the garden department, way past their bedtime, as mom & dad bought a bunch of random bricks. It’s the little random things. Sometimes it’s the epic vacation that took us 3 years to save for, and sometimes it’s splashing in puddles in the garden center of Home Depot past bedtime.

Summer has been in full swing and we are trying to savor every second. From backyard barbecues with friends to summer date nights at the beach. Lounging around on the deck and even a cleaning at the dentist. We’ve tried a few new Pinterest recipes – (And the pretzel bowl was a HUGE hit). We’ve had lots of visitors and can’t wait for even more. We celebrated Penny’s birthday, surprised Daddy at work for lunch and even managed to make a stop motion lego video to promote our church’s VBS. It’s been a crazy & fun summer so far and we are hoping to enjoy every minute.
